Minutes of Committee Meeting March 2023

  1. Attendance:
    • Present: Rupert, Steve C, Lester, Stephen P, James, Leo, Ingrid
    • Apologies: Richard, Larry
  2. Review and Approve Minutes of Last Meeting
    • Proposed: Leo Seconded: Rupert
  3. Matters/Actions Arising:
    • Draft ride leader guidance (James): Still not completed, Steve C has kindly offered to pick this up. Discussed what needs to change:
      • Support for electric bikes
      • Ride leader guidance on having riders' contacts, in case of emergency
      • Ride names and numbers to be sent into a central email inbox for one of the committee to process. James to set up a Google Sheet for recording it all.
  4. Officer's Reports:
    1. Chair: Rupert is still wishing to stand down. Nothing else to report.
    2. Secretary/IT Officer: Normal newsletters sent out. No other updates.
    3. Treasurer: No report
    4. Social Secretary: No report
    5. Runs Secretary: Runs list published with a number of updates. Unfortunately, a few closed pubs have meant finding other destinations.
    6. Audax:
      • Everything ticking over for 13th May
      • Entries coming in, with more promotion to come
      • Will consider what date for next year, as it seems a May date is probably more welcoming than March
  5. Any other business:
    1. AGM:
      • Some concerns that with 3 committee members standing down, there haven't been any new potential members coming forward. Existing committee to approach potential members. Send out another newsletter.
      • Venue confirmed, and paid for
      • Reports to be sent to the Secretary 2 weeks before
    2. Ride Leaders:
      • Cycling UK would like us to update the list of ride leaders
      • Eliminate anyone who isn't a ride leader, and we'll make everyone a registered ride leader!
      • Next newsletter to invite everyone to attend the course, with the free course coupon
      • James to check with Cycling UK as to what being a ride leader means, and whether it restricts who can lead rides
    3. Free energy bars: To be distributed as soon as possible
    4. Cheltenham & Tewkesbury Cycling Campaign:
      • Charlton Hill: Not massively concerned, but it does seem extreme not having a footpath or cycle facility whilst it's closed
      • Old Gloucester Road: The changes have made the driving route very narrow. One reason for fewer cyclists may be the closure of Staverton bridge. In general, it seems completely over the top, but very good for cyclists.
  6. Next meeting: 24th April 2023
